There is a sign for them in the lifeless earth. We revive it and We produce grain from it of which they eat. 33 and [how] We make gardens of date-palms and vines [grow] thereon, and cause springs to gush [forth] within it, 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Exalted is He who created all pairs - from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know. 36 And a Sign for them is the Night: We withdraw therefrom the Day, and behold they are plunged in darkness; 37 And [they have a sign in] the sun: it runs in an orbit of its own [and] that is laid down by the will of the Almighty, the All-Knowing; 38 how We ordained the moon to pass through certain phases until it seems eventually to be like a bent twig; 39 It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming. 40 And a sign unto them is that We bear their offspring in a laden ship. 41 And We have created for them the like of it, what they will ride on. 42 And if We please, We can drown them, then there shall be no succorer for them, nor shall they be rescued 43 save as a mercy from Us, and enjoyment for a while. 44 When it is said to them: "Beware of what is before you and what is past, that you may be treated with kindness;" 45 And there comes not to them a communication of the communications of their Lord but they turn aside from it. 46 And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allah has provided for you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allah had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error." 47 Further, they say, "When will this promise (come to pass), if what ye say is true?" 48 They will not (have to) wait for aught but a single Blast: it will seize them while they are yet disputing among themselves! 49 then they will not be able to make any testament, nor will they return to their people. 50
