۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
