Noah had called upon Us (earlier). See, how excellent We were in answering him! 75 And We saved him and his household from the great distress, 76 and We made his seed the survivors, 77 and We left him thus to be remembered among later generations: 78 Peace be with Noah among all men in the worlds. 79 Thus do We surely reward the doers of good. 80 Verily, he [Nuh (Noah)] was one of Our believing slaves. 81 Then We drowned the others. 82 ۞ Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham. 83 Recall what time he came unto his Lord with a heart whole. 84 When he said unto his father and his folk: What is it that ye worship? 85 Why do you solicit false gods instead of God? 86 What is then your idea about the Lord of the worlds? 87 Then he cast a glance at the stars, 88 And said: "I am sick (of what you worship)!" 89 And they turned their backs and went away from him. 90 Then he turned to their gods, and said: 'What do you eat? 91 “What is the matter with you, that you do not say anything?” 92 He then began striking them with his right hand, unseen by the people. 93 Thereupon the people came running to him. 94 Said he: What! do you worship what you hew out? 95 And Allah has created you and what you make. 96 They said, "Let us build a fire and throw him into the flames". 97 They desired to outwit him; so We made them the lower ones. 98 And [Abraham] said: "Verily, I shall [leave this land and] go wherever my Sustainer will guide me!" 99 My Lord! Bestow on me a son who will be of the righteous. 100 And We gave him the glad tidings of a very gentle son (Ishmael). 101 And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast." 102 And when they had both submitted, and his son had laid down prostrate upon his forehead, 103 And We called out to him saying: O Ibrahim! 104 You have fulfilled your dream." Thus do We reward the good. 105 Indeed this was a clear test. 106 And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice, 107 And left (his hallowed memory) for posterity. 108 Peace be unto Abraham! 109 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 110 Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves. 111 Then, We gave him the glad tidings of Isaac, a Prophet, one of the righteous, 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself. 113
