So We saved the children of Israel from degrading suffering 30 From Firaun; he was indeed proud, among the transgressors. 31 We knowingly chose them above all other people 32 And We vouchsafed unto them signs wherein was a manifest favour. 33 These people say, 34 'There is nothing but our first death; we shall not be revived. 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are they better than the tribe of Tubba (name of a Yemenite tribal chief) and those who lived before them? We destroyed them. They were criminals. 37 We created not the heavens and earth, and all that between them is, in play; 38 We did not create them both but with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to another, nor shall any be helped, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
