The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 “Enter it now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
