Remind them, therefore, that by the grace of your Lord you are neither a soothsayer nor possessed. 29 Or say they: a poet for whom we wait some adverse turn of fortune! 30 Tell them: "Keep on expecting, I am expecting with you." 31 is it their minds that prompt them [to say] this, or are they merely insolent people? 32 Or do they say, "He has invented it himself"? Indeed, they are not willing to believe. 33 Let them produce a scripture like it, if what they say is true. 34 Or were they created out of naught? Or are they the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain. 36 Are with them the treasures of thy Lord! or are they the dispensers? 37 Do they have a ladder (by which they can climb up to the heavens) and listen (to the angels) and come back to the rest of the people with clear authority? 38 Or has He (Allah) only daughters and you have sons? 39 Or askest thou a hire from them so that they are with debt laden? 40 Or, is the Unseen in their keeping, so they are writing it down? 41 Seek they to lay a plot? Then those who disbelieve it is they who shall be plotted against. 42 Or have they a god other than Allah? Glory be to Allah from what they set up (with Him). 43 And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, "[It is merely] clouds heaped up." 44 So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible - 45 The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is a punishment beyond that. But most of them know not. 47 And be patient under the Judgement of your Lord, surely, you are before Our Eyes. And exalt with the praise of your Lord when you arise, 48 And glorify Him in the night and when the stars begin to wane. 49
