The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 [an angel] endowed with surpassing power, who in time manifested himself in his true shape and nature, 6 While he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon, 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The heart [of the Prophet] did not misconstrue what he saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 when the lote tree was covered in mystic splendour. 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have you considered El-Lat and El-'Uzza 19 And Manat the other third? 20 What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
