The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 His heart lies not of what he saw; 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 near unto the garden of promise. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25
