The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 so ignore them. On the Day when the Crier will call out about a horrible event, 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
