The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Beneficent 1 has taught the Quran to (Muhammad). 2 He created the human 3 He hath taught him utterance. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 25
