The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
