The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
