The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 We have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
