Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
BEHOLD. We sent Noah unto his people. [Saying:] "Warn thy people ere grievous suffering befall them! 1 Noah said, "My people, I am warning you plainly. 2 saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me, 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 but my pleas have only increased their aversion. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 Then I invited them publicly. 8 and, behold I preached to them in public; and I spoke to them secretly, in private; 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 He will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant, 11 And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you do not want the Greatness of Allah, 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 ‘Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens atop each other?’ 15 setting in them the moon as a light and the sun as a lantern? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)? 18 And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse 19 for you, so that you may walk along its wide roads". 20
