Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 keep vigil the night, except a little 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 Verily, We have sent to you (O men) a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) to be a witness over you, as We did send a Messenger [Musa (Moses)] to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
