The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn! 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then looked he, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
