Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 except those of the right hand 39 in Gardens they will question 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
