Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 But when sight is confounded 7 the moon eclipsed. 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 on that Day will man exclaim "Whither to flee?" 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 Even though he were to put up his excuses. 15 Do not forestall (the revelation before its completion) by acting in haste. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 By no means! Verily ye love the Herein. 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 Others will be despondent, 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 and leg is intertwined with leg, 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
