Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another. 1 storming tempestuously 2 And those that revive by quickening, 3 Then by those that clearly differentiate the right and wrong. 4 And those winds that bring down the remembrance. 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 Most surely what you are threatened with must come to pass. 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 And when the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 when the mountains shall be scattered 10 And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time 11 For what day is it timed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be? 14 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 15 Destroyed We not the former folk, 16 So shall We make later (generations) follow them. 17 That is what We shall do to those who are guilty of crime. 18 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 19 Created We you not of water despicable, 20 that We laid within a sure lodging 21 For a known term? 22 So We decreed. How excellent are We as decreers! 23 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected the revelations of God! 24 Have We not made the earth to draw together to itself, 25 the living and the dead? 26 And have placed therein firm and tall mountains and given you to drink of water fresh 27 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 28 "Go to what you used to deny; 29 Proceed to that shadow, rising in three columns 30 that will offer no [cooling] shade and will be of no avail against the flame 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 As though they were camels yellow tawny. 33 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 34 That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak. 35 Nor will they be given permission to present excuses. 36 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have assembled both ye and the ancients. 38 Now, if ye have a trick (or plot), use it against Me! 39 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 40
