The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
