The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
