The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 and gently take it away; 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
