The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and gently take it away; 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
