The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
