The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 and gathered his people together 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. 26
