He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attended to him, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
