He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you attend to him, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And whereas he fears, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 to yield therein corn, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
