He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 You pay full attention, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
