The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 that hide, 16 And the close of night, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
