The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are united, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
