The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
