The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
