The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
