The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the piercing star. 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
