Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
