Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a high Garden. 10 hearing there no babble; 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 and couches raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
