Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
