Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the dawn; 1 And the ten nights, 2 And the even and the odd, 3 by the night when it journeys on! 4 Indeed in that there is an oath for a man of sense. 5 Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),- 6 Iram of the pillars, 7 the like of which was never created in the countries? 8 And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley? 9 And (with) Firon, the lord of hosts, 10 They were tyrants in the land 11 And multiplied corruption. 12 and therefore thy Sustainer let loose upon them a scourge of suffering: 13 surely thy Lord is ever on the watch. 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by exalting him and bestowing His bounties upon him, he says: “My Lord has exalted me.” 15 but when He tests him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Lord has disgraced me." 16 No! But you do not honor the orphan 17 Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- 18 and you devour the inheritance with greed, 19 And ye love riches with exceeding love. 20 No indeed! When the earth is crushed and ground to dust, 21 And thy Lord shall come and the angels, rank on rank. 22 and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say, "Would that I had done some good deeds for this life". 24 For, none can make suffer as He will make suffer [the sinners] on that Day, 25 And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers]. 26 O satisfied soul, 27 "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! 28 Join My worshipers and 29 "Yea, enter thou My Heaven! 30
