The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 And by the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 by the soul and how He formed it, 7 and inspired it with knowledge of evil and piety, 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
