The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its brightness 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 And by oath of the night when it hides it 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 And inspired in it the knowledge of its sins and its piety. 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 and truly lost is he who buries it [in darkness]. 10 Thamud belied in their exorbitance. 11 When the most unfortunate of them broke forth with 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. 14 He did not fear the consequences. 15
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
