The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
