The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
