The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 And the lofty roof. 5 and the sea that is full 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 such as play at plunging, 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
