Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an. 1 Which guideth unto righteousness, so we believe in it and we ascribe no partner unto our Lord. 2 our Lord is too exalted to have either a wife or son. 3 'There were some foolish ones among us, who used to utter extravagant lies against Allah; 4 And that we thought that men and jinn did not utter a lie against Allah: 5 And persons among humankind have been seeking refuge with persons of the jinn, so that they increased them in evil disposition. 6 and that “they thought, even as you thought, that Allah would never raise anyone (as a Messenger)”; 7 'And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 There, we would sit to eavesdrop, but now an eavesdropper finds a flame in wait for him. 9 And that we know not whether evil is meant for those who are on earth or whether their Lord means to bring them good: 10 And some of us are the righteous, and some of us are otherwise; we are sects differing. 11 'But we think that we can by no means frustrate Allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 and that “when we heard the teaching of the Right Way we came to believe in it; he who believes in His Lord shall have no fear of suffering loss or being subjected to any injustice”; 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 'But those who swerve,- they are (but) fuel for Hell-fire'- 15 Would they but go straight on the way, We would give them to drink of water copious, 16 so that We might try them through this bounty. Whoso turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to suffer a grievous chastisement; 17 The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- 18 when God's servant stood up to pray to Him, they pressed close to him in great numbers, almost stifling him. 19
