The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
