In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call his associates, 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
