He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and palms 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
