Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Say, "It has been revealed to me that a band of the jinn listened [to the Quran] and they said, "We have heard a really wonderful recital, 1 Guiding unto rectitude; wherefore we have believed therein, and we shall by no means associate with our Lord anyone. 2 and that “He – exalted be His Majesty – has not taken to Himself either a wife or a son”; 3 The fool among us spoke against God outrage, 4 ‘Whereas we thought that men and jinns would never fabricate a lie against Allah!’ 5 And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden. 6 They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. 7 (The jinn continued saying): "We made our way towards heaven, but we found it filled with stern guards and a flame. 8 And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him. 9 ‘And we do not know whether harm is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends goodness for them.’ 10 And of us there are some righteous, and of us are some otherwise; we have been following very diverse paths. 11 We know that we cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 When we heard the guidance, we believed in it; and whosoever believes in his Lord, he shall fear neither paltriness nor vileness. 13 And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allah], and among us are the unjust. And whoever has become Muslim - those have sought out the right course. 14 but those who are wrongdoers will become the fuel of Hell." 15 If people were to keep firmly to the Right Way, We would have vouchsafed them abundant rain 16 That We may test them thereby, and whoso turneth away from the remembrance of his Lord; He will thrust him into ever-growing torment. 17 And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone. 18 "Yet when the Devotee of Allah stands forth to invoke Him, they just make round him a dense crowd." 19
