Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Indeed We sent Nooh towards his people saying that, “Warn your people before the painful punishment comes upon them.” 1 [Noah] said, "My people! I am but a plain warner to you, 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite until an appointed term. Indeed when Allah's appointed term comes, it cannot be deferred; if you only knew!” 4 He said, “My Lord! I invited my people night and day.” 5 But all my calling doth but add to their repugnance; 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 Then surely I called to them aloud: 8 And declared to them in public and in private, 9 Then I said, "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Surely He is the most forgiving. 10 He will send you abundant 11 rain from the sky, 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 who has created you in several stages? 14 Do you not see how God has fashioned seven skies one above the other, 15 ‘And in them, has illuminated the moon, and made the sun a lamp?’ 16 "'And God has caused you to grow out of the earth in [gradual] growth; and thereafter He will return you to it [in death]: 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 God has spread out the earth 19 that thereof you may thread ways, ravines." 20
