The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
